9.1 Just Do It
Perfect plans crumble on first contact with reality.
Communities aren't born with org charts. They grow into them.
Most of your assumptions about what running your community requires will evaporate the moment you launch. New challenges you never imagined will show up fast.
Staffing up before launch is a fool's errand. Unless you're hiring human Swiss Army knives, those carefully crafted job descriptions will be obsolete by week two.
But once you're running, clarity emerges.
Some activities move mountains. Some maintain the status quo. Some do absolutely nothing.
Your job is to ruthlessly identify which is which.
The mountain-movers? Perfect them. Protect them. Eventually, pass them on.
The status quo tasks? Streamline them. Automate them. Make them mindless.
The do-nothings? Kill them. Immediately.
Don't fall into the "we've always done it this way" trap. Inertia will drain your energy long before you run out of money or motivation.
The most valuable staffing insight comes after you've started, not before.
So just do it. Launch with what you have. The right structure will reveal itself in the doing.
